Bayer Foundation India, is working on Rural Development projects with focus on improving the quality of lives of small holder farmers. From a long-term perspective, we want to build the capacity of the farmers to be able to adopt appropriate farming practices to maximize the productivity. We are currently seeking to engage an Agricultural specialist to develop content, design and deliver the training on agronomy practices to the identified target groups/beneficiaries. The candidate will have to travel to the project locations in rural locales of India.

Job Title: Agriculture training specialist

Reporting to: Director, Bayer Foundation India

Job Role:

  • Build capacity of project implementing partners, agricultural extension trainees and field trainees on crop agronomy practices, integrated farm management, water conservation and management and stewardship practices

  • Coordinate with project implementing partners and provide guidance on last mile delivery of the training to the farmers

  • Coordinate with the CSE team to plan, design and assist in execution of the projects

  • Project review, monitoring and impact assessment

  • Support the Bayer Foundation team on other projects

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with internal teams (Market Development, BLF, Legal) and external experts (Ag. Universities, KVKs) to develop training modules and be responsible for all training activities

  • Update the training modules on a regular basis to include advancements in technology

  • Ensure availability of the training modules in multiple languages

  • Conduct training sessions for the implementing partners, field staff, extension trainees as necessitated by the project and basis the defined timelines

  • Guide the trainees on selection of demonstration plots and conduct the field days and harvest days to promote adoption of appropriate farming practices

  • Undertake monitoring visits to the field locations to track the last mile training delivery and report on a quarterly basis

  • Leverage the local authorities and institutions for effective implementation of project deliverables

  • Develop an MIS of beneficiaries

  • Support and guide the implementing partners on creation of market linkages

  • Stay abreast of low-cost technologies (specific to the geography and crop) and enable adoption of the same by the small holder farmers

  • Support the project team and external agency for baseline, endline and impact assessment studies

Candidate profile:


  • Post-Graduate in Agriculture with specialization in Agronomy/Plant Pathology/Entomology/Crop Physiology or allied subjects


  • About 10 years of domain expertise in Agriculture with at least 3 -5 years of exposure in design and delivery of agricultural training.

  • Experience in project planning and execution of Agriculture related projects is desirable.

  • Experience in working with multiple stakeholders and small holder farmers.
