1. BACKGROUND

2. POSITION PURPOSE

 

S/he will help in leading pre-positioning, partnership building and efficient proposal development processes for high priority funding opportunities, particularly with bilateral and multilateral institutions. This role requires a high performing and collaborative individual, with excellent organizational and coordination skills, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to producing high quality output. S/he will play a pivotal role in driving forward Habitat’s fundraising agenda with potential institutional donor organizations (Bilateral/Multilateral organizations, Private/International Foundations). S/he will be reporting to Chief Operating Officer.

 

3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generate and manage leads with potential institutional donor organisations (Bilateral/Multilateral organizations, Private/International Foundations), including carrying out donor market scanning and donor intelligence.

  • Identify and develop partnerships with key INGO/NGO/commercial organizations with whom joint funding applications can be made and where appropriate formulize partnerships via MoU’s or Letter of Intent

  • Coordinate with HFH colleagues on FOI activities such as pre-positioning, forecasting, Go/No go, proposal development and review process, etc.

  • Develop a pipeline both for local and international funding opportunities.

  • Devise and coordinate engagement strategies for key institutional donors

  • Draft proposals/concept notes and pitch to relevant stakeholders.

  • Ensure active follow up, communication and engagement with donors.

  • Prepare briefings and other informational materials for better FOI engagement and awareness for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Provide information on institutional funding opportunities for Habitat Senior Management/APO and be point person for follow up on GFOI monthly opportunity forecast.

  • Play a lead role on the Go No Go process working closely with AD FOI and CFP India in the APO

  • Provide support to proposal development, and play an active, flexible role on proposal development teams utilising the GFOI proposal development guidelines and tools

  • Drive interdepartmental coordination for project design with program hubs, Resource Development Team and other departments, such as finance.

  • Draft and refine key sections of proposals that are standard (e.g. capability statements, context and programme experience) while drawing on the technical or unique expertise of others.

  • Ensure proposal narrative, activities, detailed budget and budget narrative are accurate and fully coherent.

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES

  • Postgraduate degree in economics, business studies or social sciences.

  • At least 12-15 years of proven professional experience in fundraising, specifically in raising funds from Bilateral/ Multilateral Organizations, and Foundations.

  • Knowledge of fundraising cycles, proposal formats and application procedures for key donors.

  • Direct experience of writing and coordinating funding proposals for institutional donors.

  • Should be able to demonstrate an ability to engage with complex and evolving issues; utilize strong analytical and critical thinking skills; present compelling evidence-based arguments; and deliver high quality and technically written work in tight timeframes.
