Communications & Documentation Coordinator

Reporting to Executive Director, Communications&Documentation Coordinator will promote the mission of NEG-FIRE by developing contents related to our work and disseminate among the key stakeholders for visibility, branding, and knowledge enhancement. He/She will develop compelling documents and communication products that articulates NEG-FIRE’s primary education program for children from the tribal and dalit communities across 7 states in India.

Position will be based in National Office, New Delhi

Key Responsibilities:

1) Communications:

  • Create textual, audio and visual contents on a regular basis and disseminate the same through various communication channels to reach out to different stakeholders/ audience.

  • Create contents for the website and social media channels.

  • Develop and implement Communication strategy with SoPs – which includes Social media guidelines, branding, copy right, copy-left, creative commons for our products, etc..

  • Develop IEC material (such as flyers, posters etc.) for sensitization of families and community members for increasing awareness on education among children. 

  • Ensure NEG-FIRE’s website is updated at all times, alter/edit information as and when required.

  • Create a web-based resource pool for ‘Tribal and Dalit Education’.

  • Prepare compelling communication materials and ensure regular presence of NEG-FIRE on our current social media channels (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram)  

  • Explore and introduce new channels of visibility according to current social media trends and organizational requirements.

  • Send monthly e-mailers to stakeholders (sharing information, donations, other actions) via Mail Chimp.

  • Manage the blog of the organisation and ensure that there are regular contributions and new posts. 

2) Documentation:

  • Collect and collate success stories, photographs, articles, quotes, testimonials, pictures etc., through frequent field visits and in coordination with the NEG-FIRE’s program team, Govt. teachers, Community groups, etc.

  • Documentation of – Case studies, best field practices, process documentation of teacher trainings, and documenting organizational documents (as and when needed).

  • Provide proof-reading of all publications of the organization.

  • Liaise with different Vendors for designing, printing and ensure timely dissemination of printed material to respective stakeholders.

  • Writing and designing Annual Reports, Newsletters, Brochures, for NEG-FIRE etc.

  • Maintain an inventory of the publications (both external and internal) and documents.

  • Optimal utilization of the budget for communications and documentation plans.

  • Take up other tasks which may be requested by the Executive Director or by the person as he/she may assign, as per the emerging needs in the organisation. 

Required Competencies:

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Masters’ Degree in Communication / Journalism /Public Relations or any other related fields

  • At least 3-4 years of experience in communication or related field in the development sector.

Skills and knowledge

  • Knowedge of communication strategy and planning

  • Ability to produce analytical and well-presented reports and publications such as - Annual Reports, Brochures, and other Brand materials

  • Demonstrated skill in program communication, development of information and communication material.

  • Ability to capture audience by developing compelling stories from the field, including visual presentation.

  • Must have excellent writing skills in English

  • Proven skills in proof-reading, editing, designing, videography, or photography.

  • Proficiency in MS Office, and software like - Prezi, Canva etc., CorelDraw and Photoshop.,etc.

  • Proficiency in Hindi and other regional language/ dialect is desirable.

  • Understanding of social media trends and email marketing software such as Mail Chimp.

  • Basic understanding of SC/ST communities and sensitivity to their development needs.

Salary will be commensurate with candidates’ qualifications, hands-on domain experience and skills. Deserving candidates will be paid a reasonably good compensation, as per the industry standards.
