Position: Communications Manager, India

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of a long-term communications strategy focused on Facebook's deep commitment and investments in protecting the integrity of our apps and the safety and rights of communities across India.

  • Develop and pitch stories related to Facebook's most important policy issues impacting our operations in India.

  • Lead the company’s response to inbound press enquiries, including media strategy and message development, and internal escalation and reporting requirements.

  • Counsel cross-functional partners on communication considerations in relation to policy changes, product updates and other regional announcements.

  • Proactively and confidently brief press, opinion leaders and stakeholders on Facebook's approach and investments to protect the integrity of its platforms

  • Distil complex policy concepts into plain language for press, policymakers and the general public

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism or a related field.

  • 10+ years professional experience leading media engagement on issues-rich subject matters

  • Understanding of press and the defining public policy issues linked to the technology sector.

  • Experience working for a technology company or managing technology, government, or corporate clients at a public relations agency

  • Globally minded, with a proven ability to work across cultures

  • Strong media relationships and contacts

  • Outstanding English verbal and written communications skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Friendly team player with strong project management, time management and collaboration skills

  • Self-starter with a desire to tackle complex issues

  • Excellent judgment and negotiation skills, with the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, pressurised, dynamic and deadline-driven environment

  • Flexible with the ability to balance multiple competing priorities, and pivot/reprioritise quickly as needs arise
