Position Name: Consultant (Communications and Design)

About the project:

USAID-funded, Population Services International (PSI)-led flagship initiative, Samagra, aims to establish a resilient health system that is responsive, affordable, and equitable, and provides quality preventive, promotive, and curative primary health care to the urban poor, especially women, children, and other vulnerable populations. Samagra aims to improve access to affordable quality health services in the urban areas, enable good governance for urban health and address the barriers related to the social determinants of health. As an outcome, -Samagra endeavours to increase the use of modern contraceptives, increase case detection for tuberculosis (TB) and multidrug-resistant (MDR)-TB and improve the coverage of maternal and child health care to include antenatal care (ANC), intra-natal, and postnatal care (PNC) and improve immunization rates. Samagra is addressing COVID19 vaccine hesitancy and supporting the uptake of COVID-19 vaccination among urban poor in 5 cities i.e., Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar, Delhi, Indore, and Mumbai.

The project recently received supplementary funding from USAID to develop a “City-to-City learning exchange platform on COVID-19 vaccination” for 5 Indian cities mentioned above along with other 10 world cities in the Global South (Asia and Africa). The learning platform will share approaches to ensure a safe and equitable delivery system, provide information on cold storage maintenance, update information about the vaccine status on emergency-use authorization, describe vaccine import procedures that are proactive, and employ risk mitigation measures for vaccines.

To put together different experiences and ways in which countries have strategized, and responded to the pandemic and are rolling out/rolled out vaccinations, PSI proposes to create a city-to-city learning platform to inform in shaping the discourse and inform policy makers and political leadership to help rebuild a resilient post-COVID-19 world that is responsive to deal with any future pandemics.

Position purpose :

The position will support amplifying the city to city learning platform discourse on COVID-19 vaccination through design and communications. The associate will work closely with the communications agency and support the Project Coordinator in delivering design driven communications collaterals for the platform as well as in organizing the events and workshops.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design presentations for the learning workshops
• Design and write newsletters.
• Write blogs and opinion-editorials.
• Undertake any other activity as assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualification and Experience :

• Relevant work experience of 3 years in designing for public health communications campaign. Master’s in Communications with good knowledge of design will be preferred.

Skills:

• Proficiency in computer applications such as MS Office, and design applications - Photoshop/Adobe/Canva/Corel Draw and Mailchimp.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills demonstrated ability to build strong professional relationships with a range of stakeholders in a challenging, multi-cultural environment.
• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills in English and Hindi.
• Ability to work effectively in a team.
• Able to produce results and work in a changing environment.
