USAID-funded, Population Services
International (PSI)-led flagship initiative, Samagra, aims to
establish a resilient health system that is responsive,
affordable, and equitable, and provides quality preventive,
promotive, and curative primary health care to the urban poor,
especially women, children, and other vulnerable populations.
Samagra aims to improve access to affordable quality health
services in the urban areas, enable good governance for urban
health and address the barriers related to the social determinants
of health. As an outcome, -Samagra endeavours to increase the use
of modern contraceptives, increase case detection for tuberculosis
(TB) and multidrug-resistant (MDR)-TB and improve the coverage of
maternal and child health care to include antenatal care (ANC),
intra-natal, and postnatal care (PNC) and improve immunization
rates. Samagra is addressing COVID19 vaccine hesitancy and
supporting the uptake of COVID-19 vaccination among urban poor in
5 cities i.e., Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar, Delhi, Indore, and Mumbai.
The project has recently received supplementary
funding from USAID to develop a “City-to-City learning exchange
platform on COVID-19 vaccination” which will include 15 cities.
Five Indian cities are the one’s under Project Samagra,
mentioned above. The 10 world cities are from the Global South
(Asia and Africa). The objectives of the platform include -
Engagement with local and global health stakeholders, Curation of
evidence for impact, Creation of knowledge tools, and products and
Dissemination of global learnings and experiences. The thematic
areas include identification of good practices related to –
vaccine development, emergency approvals, supply chain, policies
for emergency-use authorization, ensuring a safe and equitable
delivery system, prioritization, supply chain, demand estimation,
cold storage maintenance, vaccination, management of AEFIs etc.
The city-to-city learning platform will facilitate shaping
the discourse and inform policy makers and political leadership to
help rebuild a resilient post-COVID-19 world that is responsive to
deal with future pandemics.
Position purpose :
R&D Associate will handle a variety of tasks to help in
positioning and showcasing the usefulness and impact of the city
to city learning platform on COVID-19 vaccination. The associate
will take guidance from the Project Coordinator and support him on
the day-to-day work related to the city to city learning platform.
This will include but is not limited to supporting the development
of tools, collating data, undertaking analysis, coordination and
follow up with stakeholders etc. The position will also work
closely with the Communications Specialist and MLE Specialist to
complete the research and documentation related work on a regular
basis. This position will ensure that the documentation work under
the project is aligned with all existing efforts of partners, UN
organizations / donors and the Government in this regard.
• Documentation of key project
activities and achievements for each phase of the project, as well
as making summary reports on a regular basis.

• Support the Project
Coordinator in ensuring effective coordination with identified
Point of Contacts across different national and international
cities to ensure multi-stakeholder participation on the platform.
• In coordination with the research agency, by the end of
the assignment, the associate/s should submit ready to publish
manuscripts and identify journals for submission.
Regularly coordinate with Operations Hub team, Innovations Hub
team, Communications, MLE Specialist and partner NGOs on a
time-to-time basis to gain insights and support the project
• Prepare the weekly/monthly draft reports
for donor, government and partners and share it with the Project
Coordinator on time for review input and submission further.
Undertake field visits as and when required

years in research and documentation preferably in the field of
