Position: Consultant (Research Specialist) - SANKALP for SDMRU, MSDE, GoI

Educational and other qualifications



  • MBA/ BE/ B.Tech /PGDM/ Masters (Economics) from reputed institute/ university

  • Should have good command over English (both written and verbal)

  • Proficient in handling computer and office related tools



  • Minimum five years of professional experience 

  • 2+ years’ experience in a top-tier research institution/ consulting firm/ multilateral institution 


  • Experience in formulating polices

  • Handling govt projects/ schemes

  • Prior experience of research and publications

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and documentation skills

  • Understanding of IT system (web page, MIS and mobile application)

  • Proficiency in using statistical applications

  • Should be able to operate in unstructured environment with minimal support

Scope of Work

  • Support SDMRU in undertaking Skill Development/ Labour Market Studies through technical knowledge in research methodologies;

  • Provide technical advice on aspects related to Skill Development policies including in areas of improving outcomes of Government supported programs;

  • Provide expertise and support in conduct of primary and secondary research including surveys, focused group interviews and other forms of data collection as may be required;

  • Support in mining and collation of secondary information from national/ international databases and other sources;

  • Assist in achieving overall research output, including by report writing, validation of data, drafting and presentation;

  • Other requirement related to the research including conduct of workshops, stakeholder interaction, etc. related to identified studies;

  • Provide regular update reports and present progress for reporting and monitoring purposes

Period of Contract

The appointment to the post will be purely on contract basis initially for a period of one year, further extendable subject to satisfactory performance and requirement of services for another year. The performance of the consultant will be reviewed every year and the contract shall be extended or discontinued (as the case may be) depending on the performance. The decision of NIMI shall be final in this regard.

Remuneration (per month)

Rs. 50,000/- consolidated pay from which standard TDS will be deducted at source. Not entitled to any other allowance or benefits.

Selection Process

Selection will be done on the basis of performance in the personal interview by a selection committee. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for the interview. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. At the time of the interview, the candidates shall produce their original certificates for verification.

Attendance and leave policy

The working hours will be the same as for NIMI. No extra remuneration shall be paid for working beyond office hours or on Saturdays/Sundays/gazetted holidays. Compulsory leave in such cases shall be at the discretion of the competent authority.

Confidentiality and secrecy

The consultant maintain confidentiality and will not divulge any information gathered during the period of engagement with the NIMI to any person who is not authorised to know the same.
