Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaises with Government of India (GoI), local government institutions, civil society organizations, private sector companies and other stakeholders to coordinate activities and facilitate monitoring and reporting of project objectives and achievements;

  • Liaises with partners, other donors and implementing agencies to ensure coordination of and synergy with other air pollution/climate change, risk management, public health, private sector engagement and governance and information use related activities, among others;

  • Provides financial oversight, in coordination with finance team, over the life of the project;

  • Oversees a team of technical, operations, compliance and finance staff and ensure clear roles and responsibilities and lines of communication are maintained among the team members;

  • Supervises key staff, including ensuring staff regularly prepare and accurately update performance data;

  • At the request of the COP, represents the project at national and international fora, including technical and investment conferences, policy briefings, networking events, etc.;

  • Provides guidance and mentoring to managers and staff to achieve project goals and develop national leadership capacity.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required; however a Masters degree; or its international equivalent or higher in a relevant field of study, such as climate change, public health, environmental management, spatial planning, economics, public policy, natural, earth, or physical sciences; business administration, governance, or other related field is strongly preferred.

  • At least 5-8 years of professional leadership and experience in public health, environment/climate change and natural resources management, air pollution mitigation, experience in managing and implementing USAID and other donor-funded environment projects in complex settings, with specific experience working with government counterparts, international donors, and local organizations to address air pollution.

  • Proven experience working with National, State and local government officials, particularly Government of India, is highly desirable, to support strategy development, implementation plans and decision making;

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to plan, organize, and manage resources for successful completion of projects.
