Title:Deputy Director – Development Communication,           

Location – Delhi

Breakthrough is seeking a highly motivated Deputy Director -Development Communication with primary responsivities as stated below:

Primary Duties:

  • Responsible for developing and delivering on a robust plan for communication to increase Breakthrough's influence and perception which will assist the development of fundraising, partnership and marketing plans

  • Translates complex analysis into well-structured and comprehensible presentations and recommendations for corporate communication and marketing initiatives

  • Analyse research and evaluation findings, develop reports, and present data for internal and external stakeholders

  • Effectively communicate qualitative and quantitative data to inform campaign activities or a policy agenda

  • Lead the funder reporting process in Breakthrough

  • Contribute in writing funding proposals by providing insights based on evaluation data and research studies

  • Contribute to the strategic content creation process for a range of audiences with a goal of broadening our reach and establishing our voice through a variety of platforms

  • Commitment to reading and staying updated on research and data relevant for Breakthrough’s work 

  • Plan and manage the design, content, and production of all marketing materials, including reports, posts, newsletters, publications

  • Supervise projects to guarantee all content is publication-ready.

  • Respond to communication-related issues in a timely manner. 

Desired Qualification, Experience and Skills:

  • A master's degree /diploma in communication, journalism, public relations and related fields 

  • Master`s degree in gender studies, public health, or related field preferred 

  • 12 -15 years of experience in developing information/education/communication materials, documentation and report writing with proven experience creating targeted content is advantageous.

  • Proven success in developing and executing innovative and highly leveraged communication strategies, including direct senior level experience in branding and communications and ideally, fundraising or income generation

  • Possesses the unique ability to visualise and translate complex research concepts and program evaluation data into innovative communication materials

  • Good at data analysis, data visualisation, and has the creative skills to create aesthetic and compelling visuals from that data

  • An impeccable writer and a storyteller Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong knowledge of communication practices and techniques.

  •  Proactive and able to stay effective while managing shifting internal expectations

  • Able to prioritize and manage large amounts of information relevant to the work while meeting demanding deadlines

About Breakthrough:

Breakthrough was founded in 1999 with the mission of using arts and culture to bring human rights issues -- especially violence and discrimination against marginalized groups -- into mainstream conversation and inspire critical masses of people to take action for change. Its first project was Mann ke Manjeeré (An Album of Women’s Dreams), an award-winning music album and video compilation that stirred unprecedented discussion across India about women’s rights and brought the problem of domestic violence out from behind closed doors. Today, Breakthrough works to activate the critical mass of people who will deliver the culture change needed to make violence against women and girls unacceptable worldwide.

Over the years Breakthrough is working on preventing Violence against Women & Girls, Breakthrough has a deep understanding of the interlinkages between its various manifestations. Breakthrough has made innovative use of media, arts and technology including digital and mobiles to usher in social change to end violence against women and promote a culture of human rights. Strategic partnership with the Ministry of Women and Child Development for dissemination of our media and IEC products which ensures that the messaging reaches large numbers as can be seen by the Bell Bajao campaign that reached 130 million in Phase I and 110 million in Phase II. The support was received pro-bono and is estimated to be worth INR 150 million. The Ministry has adopted Breakthrough’s MissionHazaar campaign on preventing sex selection under its flagship “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” campaign and is disseminating the TV spots, curriculum and communication guide in 12 Indian languages.
