About the Position


PHIA Foundation, is seeking to hire a qualified candidate to fill the position of Field Coordinator (Agriculture). The position is for the project title ‘Strengthening Natural farming systems in two blocks of South Chotanagpur Region, Jharkhand’ which would be implemented in 2 selected blocks (Rania block, Khunti district and Thethaitangar block, Simdega district in Jharkhand.


Through the project following objectives are expected:

  • Develop greater understanding about the climate resilient mitigation context and planning on Agroforestry livelihood systems among the Civil Society Organizations in the state.

  • Pilot intervention on scientific and sustainable planning of natural resources such as water, forest and soil.

  • Establishing sustainable and climate resilient NRM based livelihoods (Natural Farming and Millet promotion)



Job Description

The programme intends to engage Field Coordinator for overall planning, implementation, supervision and guidance for the all the project activities, successful implementation of the project towards achieving the project objectives at block level.


The key responsibilities will include the following:


  • Promotion of farm-based climate resilient livelihoods (Agri based -Dry Land natural farming, SRI method of Paddy cultivation, Millet promotion, etc.) in the project villages

  • Promotion of Improved Agricultural practices through natural farming methods

  • Promotion of Vegetable cultivation as nutrition garden through natural farming methods

  • Promotion of Drip irrigation and solar pumps among farmers in the project villages

  • Capacity building of the farmers, and volunteers on Agro-based livelihoods etc involved in the planning and implementation of the projects at Panchayat and Block level. 

  • Closely work with Block administration for effective execution of the project

  • Document the project progress, submission of monitoring Reports, capturing success stories, facilitating visit by State Team/ other partners etc.

  • Liaising at block level with the Agriculture department, Soil Conservation Department, Forest Department, Irrigation Department, and other line departments to ensure inter-agency coordination for Programme interventions

  • Planning, implementation and monitoring of the project activities for successful achievement of the project objectives

  • Take up and facilitate studies and research to assess the impact of works demonstrated under the project.

  • Organize trainings for the farmers and volunteers panchayat and at block level  

  • Take up additional activities from time to time assigned by the line manager.


Qualifications/Experience/skills/knowledge and expertise

  • Applicant must have a Graduate degree in any stream from a recognized university/institution. Candidates with Degree in Agriculture will be preferred.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of field experience in projects relating to Agronomy/Agro-based livelihood, in NGO/Public/private sector.

  • Sound understanding on social and developmental issues, livelihood, skill development and the work of civil society.

  • Effective skills for managing reporting and documentation.

  • Experience in coordinating/dialoguing with block and district administration.

  • Experience of working with government departments.

  • Willingness to travel to the field extensively as required in the project.

  • Fluency in English and Hindi is a must

  • Computing Skills (Should be well versed with MS Office, especially word, excel and electronic communication).
