The International Fertilizer Development Center is a science-based public international organization working to alleviate global hunger by introducing improved agricultural practices and fertilizer technologies to farmers and by linking farmers to markets.

Job Description

The FMO will be the frontline extension personnel in the district to promote good agricultural practices among the farmers through personal contact. The FMOs will assist the Agronomist, Business Development Specialist and Data Management Specialist in their respective activities such as conducting training programs, motivational meetings, establishing demonstration plots, organizing crop cut and field days, developing markets for the farmers through identification of traders, dealers, and supermarket outlets, collect field-level data, and other activities as required in the project.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collect qualitative and timely and accurate data at the field level through different surveys and also capture data related to all other events.

  • Conduct motivational meetings and report on their outcomes.

  • Identify progressive farmers including women from among farmer groups (such as FPOs, Cooperatives, women groups, etc) for promoting good agriculture practices (GAPs) and disseminating new technologies.

  • Assist in training farmers on GAPs (including post-harvest management) and collect data and report on the adoption of the training.

  • Establish demonstration plots, conduct crop cuts, and organize field days.

  • Develop markets for the farmers through the identification of traders, dealers, and supermarket outlets to link farmers.

  • Monitor and report on the outcomes of the market linkages, including volumes of products sold through those markets.

  • Assist in the development of the training program and materials as well as training of retailers and dealers.

  • Organize agriculture marketing seminars and link farmers with traders.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelors of Science in Agriculture or related fields.

  • At least 3 years of field experience in agricultural extension services, community mobilization, and farmer training.

  • Have adequate knowledge of improving agriculture productivity through GAPs and improved technology and linking farmers with end consumers/agri-dealers/supermarkets.

  • Proficient in the local language (Telugu) is essential.

  • Good computer skills i.e. MS Office, MS excel.
