Sehgal Foundation invites applications for the position of Field Specialist/Agronomist/ Subject Matter Specialist – FPO Capacity Building Project on a Consultancy basis.


Locations: Kolar, Karnataka and Prayagraj, U.P


Reports to: Program Lead


Position Requirements

  • Minimum qualification should be M.Sc./B.Sc. in Agronomy/Soil Science/Horticulture 

  • Minimum 3-5years experience of directly working in NGOs or Agriculture development organization 

  • Previous experience of working with FPO’s/Women FPO’s will be an added advantage - Willingness to travel in rural/remote area

Job Description:


The role of SMS is to provide technical support to the project team along with the capacity building of Farmers' producer organizations (FPO’s) members and establish market linkages. In addition, he/she will identify new technology and farming practices that help in increasing crop productivity and quality of produce of FPO. Coordinate with the project leader, project coordinator, and field assistant for strong monitoring of the project implementation, preparing project progress reports, manage donors visit, MIS, and other works. He/she will responsible for strengthening strong linkages with the concerned government department, Agri university, KVK’s, and district administration.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Team capacity building on scientific agronomic practices and technology 

  • Conduct training of FIG’s on scientific agronomic practices of lead crops and vegetables, field monitoring of crop progress, providing on-farm support to farmers, and conduct field days 

  • Providing field-level operational support for the formation, capacity building, governance, and market linkages for farmer's producer organization.

  • Develop training manual, training module, and guideline for processing / value addition/ marketing 

  • Ensure all project intervention should be aligned as per technical specifications given in the project proposal   and adhere to the timeline of the project 

  • Suggest an innovative technical and digital solution to the team and the farmers to increase farm income and crop productivity  

  • Support /facilitates project team in community mobilization to ensure community participation in the project intervention 

  • Guide team for timely collection of data for MIS and the project 

  • Prepare monthly/quarterly/half yearly and annual progress reports.

  • Coordinate with the Outreach for Development team in developing project-related IEC material, press media coverage, and local media coverage.

  • Networking with a district-level government official, line department, KVKs, educational and research institutes required for the sustainability of the project

  • Representing organization and project at various local, regional, and national platforms.
