Roles and Responsibilities:

Strategic Advice, Policy support and Coordination:

  • Leads the state office and coordinates with stakeholders.

  • Coordinates and provides substantive contribution to key policy discussions at the state level to ensure that priority issues are addressed

Project planning, development and implementation:

  • Identifies development priorities of the State from the State government and existing Donors.

  • Designs mechanisms and programmes to address the developmental needs of marginalized communities.

  • Builds support for key social and economic priorities through partnerships.

Partnership development and resource mobilization:

  • Develops new partnerships and curates new portfolios in the state.

  • Mobilises resources for the implementation of strategic development programmes.

  • Represents UNDP at state level in the context of partnership building.

Provides support to the State Government in achievement of SDG targets:

  • Provides policy advice and technical inputs to state Government for achievement of SDGs.

  • Identifies key priorities of the state and maps emerging national consensus on SDG indicators and targets.

  • Provides policy advice and technical inputs to state government on integration of SDGs with state level monitoring and evaluation framework.

Ensures quality managerial oversight and facilitate knowledge building in the State:

  • Leads and manages the UNDP State Office team. Coordinates with other UNDP state offices in identifying best practices of relevance to Uttarakhand.

  • Ensures Financial Oversight and Coordination between various State Projects.

  • Undertake any other task assigned by supervisor.  


  • Master’s Degree or equivalent in Development Studies, Public and Business Administration, Economics, Political Sciences, Social Sciences or related field.


  • 7-10 years of relevant experience with national government and/ or international level in project management, programme development and project design and implementation in the area of development.

  • Experience in leading office or sub-offices as part of a larger organisation or entity.

  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages, experience in handling of web-based management systems.
