Organization Description:

 

Foundation for Development of Rural Value Chains (FDRVC) is a Not for Profit Company set up to support DAY National Rural Livelihoods Mission (https://aajeevika.gov.in/), a flagship program under Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India for launching producer enterprises in select rural commodity value chains in farm and non-farm sectors. The company is managed by high quality seasoned professionals and initial funding support for the company comes from one of the largest philanthropies in India. It engages with states to set up Producer Enterprises (PE) with rural producers of farm and non-farm produce, and provides professional services to make these enterprises financially successful. The company strongly believes that to promote rural livelihoods enterprises of the producers would play a critical role and these enterprises would require high quality business incubation support.

 

Department of Agriculture Cooperation & Farmers’ Welfare (DAC & FW), Government of India (GoI) has launched the scheme- ‘Formation and Promotion of Farmer Produce Organizations (FPOs)’, to promote 10,000 new FPOs in the country by 2023-24. Foundation for Development of Rural Value Chains (FDRVC) has been designated as an Implementing Agency (IA), to promote 100 FPOs allocated to the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), GoI under the scheme.

 

Role Summary:FDVRC is looking for young Agri business management professionals with entrepreneurial bend of mind from good management institutions with experience in start-ups, agri business companies. FDVRC is offering unique opportunities to those who have the passion to work with rural poor and want to take up the challenge to work for the small and marginal farmers to help them increasing their income by supporting Cluster Based Business Organization (CBBO) and Farmer Producer Companies. The selected professionals would provide hands on support to develop FPO businesses being promoted under the scheme in project management, market linkages, extension and input services and farmer mobilization.

 

The Management trainee would be part of the Project Management Unit of the organization. He/she will support technical aspects of the project management and monitor field-based activities being conducted and provide project management support and capacity building support.

 

The management trainee will closely work with various Leads to accomplish the stated objectives of the organization.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop support programs to strengthen chosen Cluster Based Business Organizations (CBBO) and monitor the execution of operations.

  • Technical supervision of annual work planning process and development of program activities

  • Supervise CBBO assessments and oversee the CBBO selection process. This includes developing scopes of work, providing leadership and mentoring to the local technical team

  • Design activities to smoothen the work of the CBBO. This includes the development and implementation of upgrading plans in targeted value chains with a focus on improving productivity and net revenues;

  • Monitor and Evaluation of the performance of the CBBO with data analysis and reporting the performance with documentation support

  • He/She will need to support the specialist or regional team with research and analysis; and lead communication with stake-holders in building the development eco-system.

  • Developing materials, presentations, organizing events and meetings to present the value chain development plans and idea

  • Develop SOPs for business operations to be taken up by the Producer Enterprises including procurement, logistics, storage, materials management, financial management, value addition, marketing/trading

  • To participate and input necessary strategies and tools to position the organizations for high performance

  • Building relationships with identified knowledge partners, also developing mechanisms for knowledge capture

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture and allied subjects.

  • MBA in Agribusiness/Rural Management from an institution of repute.

  • Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience in the sectors like agri-business, project Management, Government program engagement, of which at least 1 year should be in field level engagements in project management, value chain development, agricultural, or food industry. Maximum work experience should not exceed 3 years.

  • Experience of monitoring, project management, technical support, mobilization, financial management, and capacity-building.

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Ability to manage projects in time-bound manner as per the defined terms and conditions

  • Strong organizational and planning skills

  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, with demonstrated strength in relationship management

  • Are able to work independently to structure complex problems and, support recommendations with data / analysis

  • Excellent computer skills (word-processing, spreadsheets, and databases) are required.

Other: Fluency in English and Hindi is required

 

This position is based out of Delhi with need-based travel across India (especially to rural locations). The salary is commensurable with current salary, experience and industry standards.
