At Walmart Global Tech India (WGTI) we are spearheading the future of retail through technology. This role will play a pivotal role in strengthening external communications and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to advance Walmart’s tech brand and community impact in India. At Walmart, we strive to be a force for good by building an ecosystem through deep-rooted partnerships with NGOs, educational institutes, industry associations, communities and various industry players. Our CSR charter is to ensure that we support the communities in areas where we operate while promoting the highest standards of ethics, integrity, and compliance. Our external stakeholder engagement is to interact with all industry associations to build an advocacy-based strategy.

Job Description/ Responsibilities

Reporting to the Senior Manager for External Communications and CSR, this role will :

Drive 360* communications approach

Drive ideation and execution for external communications to elevate our employer branding strategy

  • Have experience in ways to delivery on strategic objectives

  • Leverage data-led metrics and analytics to regularly review external impact based on top tier media

  • Have a deep understanding of tech messages and their effective delivery through content such as press releases, blog posts, briefing notes

  • Grow our leaders as thought evangelists by driving keynotes, data reports, awards and opinion articles

  • Identify sponsorship events to amplify our tech brand messages

  • Identify research programs to collaborate with public universities

Should have a strong ability to partner with teams, internally and externally

  • Culture fitment is key

  • Collaborate with global communications team to learn best practices

  • Work effectively with internal cross functional teams at WGTI

  • Coordinate initiatives with leading global institutions like NASSCOM, IMA, GHCI and AmCham.

  • Handle responses to crisis situations which affects perception and reputation

  • Demonstrate experience in managing agencies

Drive a strategic CSR program focused on promoting Diversity & Inclusion and sustainability initiatives

  • Identify NGOs aligned to our strategy and evaluate proposals

  • Engage with our existing NGOs to understand problem statement. Review the fund utilisation

  • Drive a robust associate volunteering program

Tech Stories

  • Identify tech stories at WGTI

  • Articulate tech stories in various platforms internally and externally

Brand Audit

  • Have a deep understanding of audit findings to suggest way forward

  • External messages should be aligned to ‘Company goals’, this should accelerate our brand positioning positively in India


  • Converge’ is our flagship tech event, the candidate should understand the outcome of this event and project manage effectively with various stakeholders

  • Understanding of crisis situation is a must

Education Qualification/required Skills & Experience

  • You hold a Bachelor’s/Master’s or an equivalent degree in Communications, Journalism or Public Relations

  • You should have 10+ years of experience in a corporate/ PR agency, preferably from tech organisations

  • Relevant experience in enhancing brand reputation of a technology or product company

  • Hands-on experience in crisis communications

  • Exemplary writing skills
