About the Project:

Samagra, led by Population Services International (PSI), strives to create an urban health ecosystem that is responsive, affordable, and equitable, and which provides quality preventive, promotive, and curative primary health care for the urban poor, with a focus on women, girls, and other vulnerable populations. In partnership with the USAID, the Government of India (GOI), and local public and private sector stakeholders, Samagra aims to improve access to affordable quality health services in the urban areas, enable good governance for urban health and address the barriers related to the social determinants of health including gender, nutrition, air pollution, among others.

As part of the effort to create a platform to foster innovative solutions that address barriers to improving RMNCH+A outcomes in particular and primary health outcomes in general, Samagra has a specialized innovations hub to identify and mentor innovative solutions for the urban poor. Innovations curated under Samagra will exhibit certain key features including usercentric, evidence-based, albeit, preliminary evidence, models which are fit-for-scale. Innovations supported under this project will be intrinsically gender-sensitive and equitable and must be able to articulate and envisage fit-for-scale.

Position Purpose:

The Manager – Programs (Gender and Innovations) will be responsible for gender mainstreaming within the project at large and will provide specific operational support to the innovations hub. S/he will report to the focal point for Gender and Innovations (Lead Innovations) and work closely with the Senior Manager, Innovations, in addition with the extended Samagra team and implementation partners.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide technical support in designing various tools for Samagra activities and materials to ensure gender sensitivity
• Undertake sensitization/capacity building of Samagra staff and implementation partners on gender integration and equity
• Contribute to periodic and quarterly reports and ensure effective monitoring and evaluation of gender equity and inclusion
• Undertake desk research to identify promising innovations addressing gender related barriers and/or promoting gender inclusivity, including mapping, short listing, and reviewing
• Support in the implementation and monitoring of innovations selected under Samagra
• Support the innovations hub in managing sub-awards related to innovations

Qualification & Experience:

• Post-Graduate in gender/women studies, sociology, business management, international development or related fields;
• A minimum of five (05) years of work experience, preferably in designing and implementing activities related to gender equity, mentoring start-ups, new businesses, etc.
• Experience in supporting development programs on gender equity and inclusion will be ideal
• Experience in supporting and working with small businesses/start-ups/social enterprises is desirable
• Proficiency in Microsoft office tools- word, excel, power point etc.
• Ability and willingness to travel at least 40% of time

• Ability to work effectively in teams.
• Ability to prioritize workload and demonstrate deliverables/outcomes.
• A self-motivated, committed and a results-oriented person.
• Excellent inter-personal skills and communication skills, including presentation skills
• Identifies and communicates relevant information to a variety of audiences.
