Position Description

Global Health Strategies Institute is seeking an intelligent, passionate public health professional with in-depth knowledge of public health issues, government policies, programs, and schemes for one of its projects in district Bharuch, Gujarat with a goal is to implement a holistic public health-care model of essential health and nutrition services in one block (Hansot) of Bharuch district of Gujarat that can be replicated across the district and the State. The key objectives of the project are as follows:

  1. To demonstrate the feasibility of the comprehensive health program, which is based on existing policies, by supporting the implementation of government programs.

  2. To develop and pilot a Tele-heath / Tele-Medicine services to ensure a wider reach and greater uptake of health services by communities especially if the population falls under marginalized and hard to reach areas.

  3. Use conventional and innovative communications strategies to ensure awareness of the program and sustained involvement of communities.

  4. Build partnership with other organizations to support the scale-up.

The candidate should have strong networking skills, especially with government stakeholders and should be able to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding work environment.


GHSi is looking for a full time Program Manager who will be based in Bharuch Gujarat.  The candidate will report to the Project Director and will be responsible for the following: 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide training, onboarding, and leadership to the field team for day-to-day implementation of the project activities.

  • Under the guidance of the Project Director, ensure annual work plans for project are developed, implemented, and monitored through direct leadership and participation.

  • In consultation with technical and Project Director, develop technical documents like SOPs, guidelines, training materials, reports, and papers for publication.

  • In consultation with technical and Project Director, develop technical documents for Tele-Health / Medicine like guidelines, training modules for service providers, materials for front line workers / community leaders.

  • Participate / facilitate training of services provider on Tele-Health / Medicine.

  • Roll-out Tele-Health / Medicine in selected areas as per the plan.

  • Develop strong relationships and network with key government stakeholders at district level to ensure smooth implementation of project activities.

  • Engage with relevant government departments (education, health, PRI) and civil society at district and block levels and other partners and donors to ensure their sustained involvement in project implementation and monitoring.

  • Participate / facilitate district level meetings with relevant departments and the donor.

  • Collate project data based on project M&E and prepare periodic progress reports.

  • Develop and sustain a strong feedback mechanism with stakeholders and partners.

  • Organise high-level communication activities / events as per the plan.

  • Conduct other tasks assigned by the Project Director from time to time.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s in public health / master’s in social work or Equivalent with at-least 3 years of relevant field experience.   

  • Good understanding of public health issues, government programs / schemes in Gujarat and other related issues

  • Good program management and documentation skills.

  • Fluency in English and Hindi (written and spoken). Proficiency in Gujarati language will be an added advantage.

  • Availability to travel in field.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
