Location: Based at Mijwan Village-Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh

Work Type: Contractual (initial one year and renewal based on performance and fund availability)

The Program Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Mijwan Welfare Society (MWS), in accordance with the strategic direction and guidance of MWS CEO. The Program Manager will lead the activities of MWS education project, and oversee its staff to ensure effective and efficient operations, systems, and procedures to achieve the education project goals, and create impact for its beneficiaries.

MWS is poised to grow and expand the breadth and depth of its work. To achieve this, we are looking for a dedicated and dynamic professional interested in meaningful work and contributing to the organisation in this challenging but rewarding role.

The Program Manager-School will be based in Mijwan, but may be required to travel to Mumbai occasionally, to co-ordinate with the senior manager. Specific responsibilities of the Program Manager-School include, inter alia, the following:

Management:
• Lead the Education projects supported by Mijwan Welfare Society
• Lead and direct the program team at the district and give clear direction to the team members and allocate tasks on a timely basis.
• Overall management of Shri Kaifi Azmi Girls Inter College (KAGIC)- girls school supported by MWS
• Coordinate with school principal, Teachers and other staff
• Hiring of new teachers and staff in coordination with CEO and admin lead
• Represent School in MWS board meeting and other events related to School /education projects of MWS

Capacity Building :
• Facilitate teachers and staff training in collaboration with government or other development agencies
• Coordinate and network with other schools (including government schools) in the region.
• Facilitate teachers training on ‘online education’

Documentation and Budgeting :

• Prepare MWS education program budgets and fund utilization
• Weekly reporting on education project activities
• Lead the development of work-plans, and track the progress of projects within the prescribed timelines.
• Regular monitoring of project activities being implemented by the field staff.
• Support the finance and accounts team with required documents during audits of the various programs.
• Documentation and maintaining a program tracker on a regular basis.

Fund raising :
• Co-ordinate with the CEO and the fund-raising team on the potential proposals’ preparation and presentation as per need.

Any other task/role/work assigned by CEO/reporting manager.

The candidate should enjoy the challenge of working on complex problems and should be passionate about the development sector. They must be a reliable team player, with a demonstrated ability to work with flexibility, efficiency, and diplomacy. The candidate will be required to use a mix of interpersonal, management, and analytic skills in a fast-paced and challenging environment, to develop and oversee sound strategies and implementation plans.

Specific requirements include the following:

• Should have a minimum of 2 to 6 years of experience in planning, monitoring and evaluation of programmes.
• Should have completed Master in Social Work (MSW)/ Public Administration, Public /International Development/ Policy/Development studies, Education or equivalent Post graduate degree from a reputed institute.
• School management experience
• Ready to work from village
• Preference to Gandhi Fellows and Teach for India fellows
• 2-4 years of work experience in the Indian development sector. Freshers with strong understanding of development sector in India could be considered.
• 2-3 years of work experience leading programs or teams in the development sector
• Experience managing complex projects
• Experience developing and managing budgets
• Experience in the Education, Vocational Skilling, and/or Civic Participation spaces beneficial
• Ability to work independently, as well as to motivate and lead a team
• Fluency in spoken and written English and Hindi
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
• Strong trouble-shooting and problem-solving abilities

Salary: INR 25K (taxable)) per month. Initial contract for a year and renewal based on performance and finds availability.
