In India, Jhpiego works across various states in close collaboration with national and state governments, providing technical assistance in the areas of family planning, maternal and child health, strengthening human resources for health, and non-communicable diseases. These programs are funded by USAID, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, David & Lucile Packard Foundation, Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), MSD for Mothers and other anonymous donors.

Jhpiego is hiring for positions of Program Officer for different districts of Uttar Pradesh. The position will support in strengthening family planning and maternal and neonatal health programs in district and developing robust health systems and a conducive environment for addressing the unmet need for spacing in Uttar Pradesh.

• Work with the district officials and other stakeholders to develop, implement, monitor and report on the program activities including work-plans, activities, M&E frameworks and reports.
• Facilitate the implementation of all activities with Zonal/District health officials and private providers to ensure necessary technical input and coordination to achieve desired results in the assigned districts.
• Undertake visits to health facilities to assess site preparedness, service delivery and resource availability, and provide mentoring support to providers workers for effective organization of PPFP and MNH services
• Manage site-level technical support and conduct trainings of providers
• Work closely with Zonal/District health officials and private providers for establishing program review mechanisms
• Work closely with the supervisor on setting program priorities and directions, and responding to requests for technical support from partners and other stakeholders of the program.
• Facilitate establishment of a data management system for collection of data on key indicators to measure progress in quality of service provision and ensure effective implementation of program.
• Facilitate use of district skills lab for private sector institutions
• Support in implementation of a comprehensive quality improvement and assurance program that provides support to private hospitals in adhering to laid down quality standards.
• Support in organizing orientations, workshops, trainings, program review meetings and on-site training of providers.
• Assist in gathering data, writing and presenting key achievements and lessons learnt of the program at the appropriate levels in coordination with partners/local counterparts.
• Travel within the state to support of activity implementation and monitoring as needed.
• Perform or assume other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

• Experience and demonstrated ability in working with government’s Family Planning & Reproductive Health and Maternal & Neonatal Health programs, counterparts and systems.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English and Hindi.
• Technically proficient with skills required for the assigned task.
• Proficiency in writing technical documents such as training materials and reports.
• Ability to develop productive working relationships with other agencies, stakeholders and other organizations.
• Ability to handle a variety of assignments under pressure of deadlines.
• Ability to multi task and work in a multi-cultural team.
• Willingness and flexibility to work on a wide range of tasks.
• Microsoft Office computer skills, proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Ability to travel extensively up to 50–60% of his/her time.

• Graduate level qualification in AYUSH/Nursing education in India. Post Graduate Degree or Diploma in Public Health or Health Management will be preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience of working with public health programs especially Family Planning & Reproductive Health and Maternal & Neonatal Health programs and managing program implementation is desirable.
• Familiarity with the Indian health system, key stakeholders and relevant government policies/strategies particularly National Rural Health Mission would be advantageous.
