In India, Jhpiego works across various states in close collaboration with national and state governments, providing technical assistance in the areas of family planning, maternal and child health, strengthening human resources for health, and non-communicable diseases. These programs are funded by USAID, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, David & Lucile Packard Foundation, Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), MSD for Mothers, World Diabetes Foundation (WDF) and others.

Jhpiego is hiring for the position of Program Officers to be posted in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra with frequent travel to blocks and VHSND sessions in the intervention districts. The Program Officer will work under the supervision of State program officer/Manager for GDM program.

Responsibilities :

• Contribute actively in GDM program implementation and management in the intervention districts and blocks.
• Support district authorities in planning and conducting GDM trainings, logistic procurement, logistic management and program supervision.
• Monitor and improve upon GDM data entry in RCH portal.
• Coordinate with Regional level authorities for implementation of GDM services in districts.
• Support ANMs and CHOs in GDM data entry in relevant RCH portal (ANMOL in MP), monitor the data from block and district level.
• Support district authorities in scaling up GDM services up to HWCs and below.
• Collect GDM monthly data from the SHCs and blocks in the specified formats, compile it and share with the state on monthly basis.
• Conduct monthly meeting of ANMs and supervisors and participate in block and district review meetings and work towards resolving the programmatic and administrative issues.
• Plan and conduct regular visits to the health care facilities and VHSND sessions for program supervision and monitoring.
• Coordinate with district and block officials to promote implementation of each component of GDM program in the field.
• Conduct visits to the other implementing districts as per need and ensure implementation of the program activities and timely and complete monthly data reporting.
• Maintain training data base and analyze the training data for further improvement.
• Conduct GDM data analysis and use this for program improvement.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor to achieve program goal.


• Demonstrate ability to coordinate several activities simultaneously.
• Attentive to details and able to produce documents and coordinate activities with minimum supervision to a professional quality.
• Comfortable with working in a multicultural team.
• Able to manage/ prioritize work from several sources. Ability to handle pressure of deadlines.
• Excellent organizational required.
• Fluency in spoken and written Hindi and English required. Hindi typing skills desired.
• Willingness and flexibility to work on a wide range of tasks.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
• Proficient in MS Office

Qualifications and Experience:

• BDS/BAMS/Nursing with Masters in Public Health/ Health Administration.
• Familiarity with the Indian health system, key stakeholders and relevant government policies/ strategies particularly NCD Program is desired.
• 0.3 years relevant work experience in public health programs preferably with community health components.
• Experience in working with projects and knowledge of health and training issues desired.
• For Positions based out of Maharashtra knowledge of Marathi is desired.
