Job Description/ Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Regional Adviser, RPC, and overall guidance of Coordinator(Research), the incumbent will perform the following functions:

  • Ensure timely designation/ re-designation of WHO Collaborating Centres by regular follow up with WHO CCs and related technical unit/department to ensure continuity of work and status of designation as WHO CC.

  • Coordinate with HQ, WHO CC and the relevant technical focal points to determine for each cycle of the designation of a WHO CC and facilitate the defining of the details of the work of the WHO CC for WHO during the period of designation and, once designated, to follow up on the implementation and reporting as needed.

  • Analyse programme requirements related to WHO CC management, timely follow ups on the implementation of related governing bodies resolutions and decisions, liaise with relevant departments/units and prepare periodic progress reports on implementation.

  • Provide analytical inputs for financial and operational monitoring of implementation of programmes within WHO CCs and prepare periodic reports for discussions in department's meeting, and assist in monitoring effective use of the human and financial resources of the department and the WHO CCs to advance WHOs agenda in research and innovation.

  • Contribute in the harmonization of work with other departments, HQ,national authorities, other UN agencies, various donors, private sector andcivil societies.

  • Act as a focal point for follow-up on recommendations of internal/external audit teams where relevant to the work of RPC and WHO CCs

  • Act as a facilitator for monitoring and evaluation of technical unit's educational activities and technical meetings including follow up on recommendations where appropriate.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned within field of competence

Education Qualification/ Required Skills & Experience

  • Essential: University degree in Public or Business Administration or related field.

  • Desirable: Training in general administration, project management or related field (certificate or diploma course)


  • Essential: Minimum 1 years' experience in general administration

  • Desirable: Experience in WHO, other UN Agencies or in a large multi-national or international organization


  • Thorough knowledge of WHO goals, policies, rules and regulations, structure and functions. Knowledge of programme planning, monitoring and evaluation process. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Very good interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability and skills to manage high profile and sensitive/classified information.
