Job Title: Project Coordinator


Location: New Delhi, India


Term: 18 months contract highly likely extension in case of satisfactory performance


Salary: Salary Group 7 (Annual package 15 lakhs)


The Project Coordinator – Sustainable Production and Consumption, will be mainly responsible for the development and monitoring of programmes on promotion of ecological food value chains. The Project Coordinator will have specific responsibility for the project- ` SWITCH Asia II - Promoting Sustainable Production and Consumption’.


The Project Coordinator will be based at Delhi. S/he will work closely with the team at Welthungerhilfe and NGO partners and will be required to travel frequently to project areas for monitoring and programme development.


The project’s overall goal is to contribute to sustainable local food systems that safeguard public and environmental health and promote sustainable smallholder agriculture. It aims to achieve this through an increased demand for, and supply of ‘clean, green and fair’ foods in selected Indian towns, promoting the switch to sustainable food consumption and production patterns.


Key Result Areas: Availability, access and credibility of consumer information on safe and local foods enhanced through sustained campaigning and education; identified retailers and brand owners have extended outreach, and organic farmer producer organizations enhanced value addition and market access; policy advocacy undertaken to create an enabling environment for protecting consumers and promoting the domestic market for local organic foods.



  • Take responsibility of the achievement of the project targets as mentioned above.

  • Coordinate projects and provide backstopping, advisory support and assistance to partners in project implementation with the objective of achieving clearly defined and measurable outputs.

  • Undertake field level monitoring visits on a regular basis and develop well documented analytical monitoring reports of those visits.

  • Prepare periodical progress reports to reflect achievement of project targets, document lessons learnt and record project activities and prepare consolidated reports on partner programmes for submission to head office and donor agencies.

  • Facilitate support to partners in developing quality publications as IEC materials, reports, workshop documents and brochures.

  • Draw up terms of reference for consultancy and negotiate contractual agreements.  

  • Facilitate adequate liaison and linkages with relevant networks, government departments and relevant agencies to support programme implementation and advocacy initiatives by the partners.

  • Ensure identification of training needs at all levels and organize capacity building of partner staff and community on programme components.

  • Work closely with the Finance Officer to ensure timely and effective fund disbursement in accordance with contractual compliances.

  • Moderate and facilitate workshops and seminars and ensure proper documentation and dissemination of lessons learnt.

  • Identify suitable local NGOs for future cooperation with WHH.

  • Represent Welthungerhilfe at different platforms, meetings, seminars and consultations.


Undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade and as communicated by Welthungerhilfe.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in rural business management/ rural marketing/ communications/ agriculture/or allied disciplines.  

  • At least 8 years of work experience in social enterprise development/ rural marketing/ institution building/ project cycle management and budgeting. Experience of working on organic value chains/campaigning/ certification/consumer education and marketing will be a plus point.

  • Good advocacy, communication and networking skills, flair to connect with consumers, retailers and other market players, government agencies, CSOs and networks. 

  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills in English.

  • Excellent computer skills in packages including Microsoft Office. DTP software will be an added advantage.

  • Proactive, self-driven, while at the same time being a good team player, highly motivated, and willing to go the extra mile.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
