About the Position


The position is for the project titled ‘Zero Hunger Panchayats: A collaborative Government- CSO initiative towards accessing public services in Jharkhand, India. The project will be implemented in 100 administrative bocks of 14 districts Jharkhand. The project aims to

  • Establish 100 functional Help Desks (Nagarik NSKs NSK) at Block level as a bridge between the administration and community

  • Capacity building programmes are conducted for 80 Nagarik NSKs (new and existing) functionaries through a cascade model

  • Village level committees and the village assembly (Gram Sabha) are capacitated to development, implementation and monitoring participatory micro plans.

  • Advocacy activities are undertaken for policy changes, dissemination of best practices and knowledge exchange towards scaling up of e NSKs in the entire state.


Job Description

  • Responsible for overall project planning, coordination and project implementation. Leading the team, mentor and guide all the staff.

  • Extend necessary support and guidance to assess the performances of the project team in effective project implementation.  

  • Work closely with the donors to achieve the agreed deliverable, compliances, reporting and analysis.

  • Work closely with the community to achieve the project deliverables prepare strategies for community mobilization and awareness building through the use of IEC

  • Engage/ liaison with different stakeholder’s/ support organizations to ensure timely achievement of project deliverables as per the framework.

  • Would be responsible for leading the state level advocacy initiatives on social welfare issues.

  • He/she would provide technical support to the project team on MGNREGA and social security schemes

  • He/she would support the team in coordination of the various line departments of the government ensuring the multi-stakeholder convergence on the ground.

  • Undertake field visits to review and monitor the project.

  • Take up additional activities from time to time assigned by the Line Manager.

Qualifications/Experience/skills/knowledge and expertise

  • She/ he should be a post-graduate degree holder in social sciences, rural/urban development, economics, social policy, engineering from a reputed university/institute

  • Relevant work experience of at 5 to 7 years of experience of working in project implementation with specific focus to strengthening community engagement social security schemes with the government departments. 

  • Should have sound understanding of advocacy work, social development issues and the work of civil societies.

  • Sound understanding on social development issues and the work of civil society. 

  • Considerable experience of working in the NGOs/Development Sector

  • Should have sound understanding of MGNREGS and Social Security Schemes and entitlements.

  • Applicants with experience of working with government, frontline service providers, civil society. Should have experience in coordinating/dialoguing with block and district administration.

  • Effective skills for managing the reporting and documentation part.

  • Experience in coordinating/dialoguing with block, district and state administration.

  • Willingness to travel to the field extensively as required in the project.

  • Fluency in English and Hindi is a must

  • Computing Skills (Should be well versed with MS Office, especially word, excel and electronic communication).
