About the Organization:

World Economic Forum, committed to improving the state of the world, is the international organization for public-private cooperation. The Forum engages the foremost political, business and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas

Main Responsibilities:

A key focus of this role will be to integrate C4IR and technology for restoration across 1t.org activities. In a first phase, the following responsibilities will be focused specifically on India, but similar activities may be developed in other countries in the region, which the Regional Lead will also be expected to support.

Private Sector Engagement: in close collaboration with the Forum’s South Asia business engagement team, the Global Head of 1t.org, and the Mumbai C4IR, lead business engagement in the region and the recruitment of specific corporate pledges towards conservation, restoration and reforestation in India.

  • Identifying and engaging key private sector players in the region, to include important technology companies

  • Collaborating with business and entrepreneurship organisations to engage their members

Multi-stakeholder Action

  • Building on existing partnerships and initiatives, facilitate the convening of a multi-stakeholder coalition for 1t.org in India, which will draw in key private and public sector representatives as well as experts and implementors to address roadblocks and scale restoration in the country.

  • Act as lead programme manager for the 1t.org India Coalition and support the respective workstreams in coordinating implementation activities.

Encourage eco-preneurship and scale promising innovations and solutions

  • Work with the Forum’s communities in the region (Young Global Leaders, Global Shapers, Social Entrepreneurs), and with national and local organisations to develop a thought and action agenda around eco-preneurship

  • Work with 1t.org UpLink Curator to develop and run an UpLink Trillion Trees challenge for India that will source innovative and technology projects addressing key roadblocks to scale restoration, identified by the 1t.org India Coalition

Events and Communications

  • Contribute to the design and execution of 1t.org programming for events in the region

  • Represent 1t.org at relevant external events and meetings

Requirements and Experience:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent

  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in a relevant organization

  • Demonstrated ability to engage with private sector to mobilize targeted action, especially at the C-suite level

  • Experience with building coalitions or partnerships and working collaboratively across organisations

  • A holistic, understanding of the forest conservation agenda and its links to the broader nature-positive, net zero transition

  • Established network among key individuals and organizations associated with action around the environment, forest landscapes, and public-private sector initiatives in South Asia
