Research and Design Expert




SEEDS is a not for profit organisation that helps make communities resilient through comprehensive interventions in the areas of disaster readiness, response and rehabilitation. Since 1994, the organisation has worked extensively on every major disaster in the Indian subcontinent, integrating locally?based approaches to build the long?term resilience of the communities it serves. As SEEDS looks at completing 27 years of outstanding service to humanity, it is re?anchoring its approach to building resilience through innovation.




To provide research, design and documentation support in planning, material development and implementation of deliverables for Sunny Lives (Phase 2) project.




The Sunny Lives (Phase 2) project aims to change the way neighbourhoods use disaster related information to take decisions and to act for avoiding loss of lives and assets. Information about their inherent vulnerabilities will be available with very specific context of their region and surroundings. Disaster alerts and warnings will be in forms that will tell them exactly what is expected in their current location and when, and what immediate action they should take. The Project will be able to demonstrate with evidence, how better information can save lives and property, and change mindsets.


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and execute an outreach strategy for the project 

  • Develop communication material for social and print media 

  • Creative documentation of different phases of the project  

  • Research and develop content for on?ground dissemination  

  • Develop and coordinate with ground teams for capturing impact stories 

  • Research on risk parameters contributing to various disasters as per project requirement  

  • Develop impact frameworks for project assessment and analysis 

  • Additional tasks related to research and design as per project requirement 

  • Assist the project manager in project activities as required

  • Travel to project locations as required

  • Participate in periodic review and planning meetings as required

  • Any other duties that emerge from organisational management planning as and when required

Qualification and requirements:

  • Built environment and urban studies background (preferably a masters or work experience of at least 2 years post bachelors in a relevant field)

  • Interest in disaster risk reduction and climate change impacts 

  • Design and presentation skills and are able to work with relevant softwares for the same 

  • Research and analytical skills 

  • Content development and writing skills  

  • Creative communication skills for social media 

  • Co?ordination aptitude and able to work with diverse group of team members. 

  • Knowledge of Q?GIS and mapping is an advantage
