Position: Social Worker (Education)

 

Project Background

BOSCO Refugee Assistance Project is implemented by BOSCO Delhi in partnership with United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) catering to urban refugees and asylum seekers under the mandate of UNHCR from countries like Afghanistan, Myanmar, Somalia and few other Nationals from Sudan, Eritrea, DRC, Iran Iraq and Palestine. The project provides support to refugees and asylum seekers in the field of Education; Health; Psychosocial Support; Child Protection; Community Mobilization; Youth Initiatives and Community Campaigns; Prevention and Response to Sexual and Gender-Based Violence and Services to People with Specific Needs; etc.

 

Job Description

 

The Social Worker (preferable female of Indian Nationality) will primarily be responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, monitoring and reporting of all the training activities in West Delhi region within the project. The social worker will actively pursue opportunities to support meaningful access to quality education for program participants and contribute to the development of the operation’s education strategy. The Social Worker will provide essential support to the project by working with other team members to achieve the project success. The Social Worker would also be required to maintain all the records in the project along with active participation in various activities organized for the program participants (refugees/asylum seekers).

 

Key Deliverables:

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Undertake initiatives to build the capacity of communities and persons of concern to assert their right to education and access to quality education.

  • Assess needs for services of persons of concern, as related to education. Identify and promote education activities that support durable solutions. Provide guidance on education issues to persons of concern.

  • Monitor the training classes and performance of the program participants (refugees/asylum seekers).

  • Facilitate educational trainings /life skills sessions, PTM meetings and other programs for the program participants.

  • Conduct assessments to determine students' strengths, weaknesses, interests, and aptitudes.

  • Work with students to develop and improve their skill set.

  • Foster safe enabling environments that support learning.  Assist students in the development of career goals and enable them to use their education toward sustainable futures.

  • Systematically promote and comply with the Age, Gender and Diversity Mainstreaming (AGDM) policy and other priorities.

  • Ensure that best practices are identified, documented and widely disseminated.

  • Monitor and maintain records of the student’s admission process for the training classes

  • Oversee training, coaching and on-going support of teachers in order to improve instructional practices in literacy, social and emotional skills.

 Qualifications, Experience and Competencies:

 

Qualification:

Master degree in Social Work (MSW) from a regular college

 

Experience:

Minimum 2 years of previous relevant job experience in the education/development sector

 

Skills and Competencies:

  • Fluency in English and Hindi

  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel) and instructional software

  • Ability to work with a diverse group and settings

  • Good networking abilities with flair for building long-term partnerships

  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently

  • Excellent team building, leadership skills and management skills

  • Strong verbal communication skills

  • Excellent spoken and technical writing ability in English, including drafting, report writing, research and analytical skills

  • Able to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions

  • Ability to work under pressure and disciplined

Nature of Engagement:

The Social Worker shall be hired for five months contract period starting from August till  December 2021, extendable for further period subject to satisfactory performance.

 

Remuneration:

The selected candidate shall be paid a consolidated amount of Rs. 44,000 inclusive of PF.
