Position: State Consultant-Disability
Location: Kolkata
Reporting: State Programme Lead-West Bengal
Salary: 5 – 5.5 LPA

Sightsavers India has an exciting opportunity for the position of State Consultant – Disability. The consultant will be working with Anandadhara State Office, WBSRLM, Kolkata within the existing policy framework and partners and strategy of Sightsavers for managing and ensuring high quality output, support and guidance for effective social inclusion and empowerment of persons with disabilities under West Bengal Social Inclusion Programme (in collaboration with West Bengal State Rural Livelihood Mission).

The consultant will be responsible for Maintaining effective relationship with concerned govt. officials of district & state level; Proactive engagement with NRLM, Rural Development Department, Disability Commissioner, VRC, Director, Social Welfare, Govt. of West Bengal; Engage with likeminded agencies, resource agencies, supporters, resource persons towards positive project outcome; Assist SPM (Social Development), WBSRLM, and State Programme lead for pushing the agenda of disability further into the department and be proactive in providing information, reports and other documents concerning the project to the SPM -WBSRLM and State Programme lead, Sightsavers.

S/he will work with partners within the existing policy framework and strategically implement high quality, cost effective programme to achieve the expected outcomes and create an impact of the Sightsavers strategic plan and goals. In addition, s/he will contribute to programme growth and development (scalability) in collaboration with partners and Government. S/he will represent Sightsavers in their respective States and network with a wide range of stakeholders in order to promote and help achieve Sightsavers’ vision

The ideal candidate will hold a postgraduate degree in social work, public health, or social sciences from any recognized university. Minimum 10 years of experience in the development sector. Knowledge of disability issues will be a plus; however strong documentation skills are non negotiable. Candidates with a detailed understanding of disability related programmes and its delivery would be of particular interest
