Essential Services Package for Women and Girls Subject to Violence

Training for gender equality is an essential component for UN Women’s commitment to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment. Their vision is to become the leading UN centre that contributes, through training for gender equality, to building a society that respects and promotes human rights for all women and men. The Training Centre is dedicated to supporting the UN and other stakeholders to realize commitments to gender equality, women’s empowerment and women’s rights through transformative training and learning.
To provide an overview of the Essential Services Package for Women and Girls Subject to Violence: Core Elements and Quality Guidelines launched in 2015 by UN Women, UNFPA, WHO, UNDP and UNODC. These Guidelines identify comprehensive essential actions to be provided by the health, justice and policing and social services sectors, as well as guidance for the coordination of essential services, for women and girls who have experienced violence. The Guidelines are a practical tool which aim to support countries as they work to design, implement and review existing services for women and girls who are survivors of violence, in a wide range of settings.
The course is divided into following modules:
The course primarily targets practitioners, those individuals working in key line ministries and organizations that provide support to survivors of violence in the social, health and police and justice sectors. The package is also useful for UN agencies, civil society and others or who are interested in this area and want to learn more about how to support women and girls who have experienced violence.
